Ok.. sooo I'm going to talk about the music industry,
with an emphasis on the ''industry'' and not the music.
It's all the industries fault:
That Britney Spears ever made a succesfull single.
That Amy Winehose's "rehab" wasn't just a clever meterphor.
The reason why I can't stand Nickleback's music anymore (played to death).
The reason there hasn't actually been a anthemic new band since Muse.
The industry delibrately manufacture songs to appeal to you, it doesn't come from the band, it comes from what the public wants. How to save a life, a song i bet you have on your I Pod , let me tell you what happened. The big bosses told "the fray" to make a song that makes you feel all jerky-eyed and emotional, because those songs make the most- mullah. And it worked. And you bought, so did I.
You shouldn't be able to manufacture emotion.
And that's the reason why i'll always belive that old music kicks new musics ass.
BECAUSE IT'S PURE. IT'S REAL EMOTION.
What ever happened to that old fire that new bands had, where they made they're way to the top by playing with passion and flair, not manufactured rythym.
If i could liken meat to music, Old music is the roast pig, and new music is the processed ham, and i can guarantee you eat more processed ham than roast pig, i do.
The who, AC/DC, The Ramones, RUN DMC, they sang about what they wanted to sing, not what the public wanted them to sing, And it's no coincidence Back In Black will be remembered long after "rockstar" by nickleback.
Prove me wrong in 10 years time. You won't. Because if you do, music as we know it will die.
And if a new band actually makes a song straight from the heart, and you can always tell if it does. Then there's never any flair to it. Never any unique guitar riffs, or beats, and if there are unique sounds, they're repeated in the follow-up songs.
The only band i can genuinely think of that have done a new and innitotive song in these recent years is Enter Shikari, and that's a fusion of two styles, and they suck.
I genuinely belive it'll get to the point where the fans will write down random emotions and words that they want song writte about, they'll type it into a computer and out will plop a new single by Nickleback entitled " that good looking dude i liked, but he didn't like me and now I'm sad" don't get me wrong, Nickleback are an amazing band. But i know for a fact I'm not the only one that's fed up of "rockstar". It's not nickleback's fault, it's they're bosses. Judge me if you want, but "rockstar" is played as the backing track to a sofa advert.
Just think about it.
So, now for a solution.
Yes there is a solution.
Every big record label should have one huge battle of the bands, without argument. In a big festival, with every band singing the same song, but in they're own style. Judge the band by they're passion, and how they sing the words, rather than the words themselves, and then publicise the biggest ones. The cross your fingers that becoming big hasn't taken any of the magic away *cough* Lostprophets *cough*.
Oh and i've mentioned a lot of rock bands, i should also make a note that there has't been a decent New r n b song in the last two years. No argument, there hasn't.
So to some everything up.
Dance music has died. And someone spat in the grave.
Drum and bass is Pendulum.
I can't tell one rap artist apart from the next, so i wish eminem would bring something new out.
Rock is proccessed ham.
Punk, rock and roll, and metal are still alive in the underground.
P.S.
Daft Punk are my favourite band, so yeah...
.. they have robot voices, and yet they seem less fake than simple plan.
Just think about it.
What have I done!?

everyone has their own opinions, i guess i kinda agree but i like the rock bands youve named.. except "rockstar" Omfg -_- , plus i love dance music :D. What else do you excpect them to do anyway, its their job , if they want to make money they haveto do what theyre told.
LOSTPROPHETS ROCK [:
Thank you and goodnight.
I love Nickleback.
But every song on their album is better then effing "rockstar".
DFS adverts are a new low :(
Most things sound similar now-a-days.
But for rappers - I only really like Dizzy Rascal. He's definatly different.
And Noah and the Whales are different.
They have a ukalali.
How awsome is that.
Oh but some said something odd the other day "if they went on x factor they wouldn't get through".
Which they wouldn't.
But that is also awsome, cause x-factor sucks.
:)
Love your Blog Dude!
